Walking (err driving) in my Family's Steps
I'm a genealogy buff and love the detective work needed to trace my family roots. Now that I will be touring the US for the next 12 months, I wanted to take some time to visit some of the places that played a part in my family history. I've already been to a few of the towns, on past trips, and they don't seem to have changed that much. It will be fun to trace my family's steps west. Of course, these days I can use a car instead of a wagon so it won't take 269 years.
I won't bore you with all the details, but the Patriarch of the family George Smith boarded the Hector out of England in 1936 and landed in Boston. It took 269 years for the family to migrate west, when my Great Grandpa Charles settled in Tacoma, WA in 1905

For me, this trip is not just about traveling and photographing our amazing country, it's about connecting with my roots, and this site is my way of connecting with you. I hope you enjoy the journey.
