Travels with Randy

Updated: Sep 2, 2019

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.”

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN (1706-1790) .

I love that quote from Ben Franklin, mostly because it is true in my life. My family can attest to the first part, my teachers can confirm the second, but I'm living the third. I truly only learn when I am involved.

I love to travel and explore, and I prefer the road trip to flying because it makes me a part of the trip. I also think my love of photography and blogging comes from the desire to be involved in the experience.

Now that I am retired, I want to continue to learn. I'm not planning on sitting in a recliner for the rest of my life. Well, at least not for a few years. I want to give back and share what I've learned over nearly 60 years of life. I also want to experience all that this country has to offer and bring you along for the journey.

After more than 40 years working for “the man” I’ve decided to retire and “involve” myself in photography and travel; sharing those experiences with as many people as I can. Beginning tomorrow Sept. 3rd, I will embark on a 12-month road trip around the US; visiting 50 States, 61 National Parks and driving 65 of the most scenic byways in the US. ( At least, that is the goal).

Since this is a once in a lifetime trip, I want to make the most of it, so I will be sharing as much content as I can create.

Travels with Randy Podcast

Along with my good buddy Kevin "Bubba" Harmon, we have launched a weekly podcast to discuss the trip, share travel tips, retirement tips and review places and events that I visit each week. We just recorded a short introduction to the show and it will be available here on the site as well as our Travels with Randy Facebook page. Once we get in a rhythm with my trip schedule we should have a new episode each week, with the latest info from the road.

Travels with Randy Facebook Page

In an effort to have all of the content readily available, we created a Facebook page Travels with Randy Podcast for the trip. Just like the page and the updates will show in your Facebook feed.

Travels with Randy YouTube Channel

Getting back to my TV production roots I've created a channel on YouTube for Videos I shoot throughout the trip. Check here for videos on my Scenic Drives and the National Parks I visit. Please feel free to share what you see with your friends and family. Travel with Randy YouTube Channel

I'm looking forward to providing a full-service multi-media experience. Please join me regularly for Travels with Randy and experience this great country in a new way.
